Fake watches Breitling has announced a new divers watch for Baselworld 2004, the SuperOcean SteelFish.

The 42mm X 15mm stainless steel case is water resistant to 1,500 meters. It is equipped with a screw-locked-crown and a thick sapphire crystal glareproofed on both sides.

It has a safety valve enabling it to balance the differences in pressure inside and outside the case. When internal overpressure reaches approximately 3 bars, the valve automatically evacuates the helium built up during prolonged stays at great depths and thus avoids the case exploding.

Movement is the automatic Breitling caliber 17, COSC-certified as a chronometer.

A New Wind of Hope

Fashion watch Breitling is delighted to announce that the humanitarian round-the-world tour, launched in 2009 to commemorate the feat achieved by Breitling Orbiter 3 ten years earlier, has already served to raise almost one hundred thousand Euros (USD $140,000) to be devoted to fighting one of the most dreadful diseases to affect children.

This odyssey celebrating the 10th anniversary of the first non-stop round-the-world balloon flight involves a «hot-air balloon» replica of the famous Breitling Orbiter 3, flown by Brian Jones – one of the two heroes of the original record-setting accomplishment in 1999. In addition to a number of stopovers in Europe, the journey to date has provided opportunities to visit Israel, Japan, Australia and the United States – as well as a detour via Curaçao in the Dutch West Indies, where no balloon had ever yet ventured.

Manufacturers of luxury watches like to add the words “aviator” and “pilot” to the name of their timepieces, but it is not likely that the men operating aircrafts really wear any of them during flights. The primary function of these watches is just to look good. Unlike such timepieces, Breitling watches, and the Breitling Navitimer watches in particular, have been used by pilots worldwide throughout the history of aviation. The Swiss-based watch manufacturer has introduced a special edition of its Skyracer and Airwolf chronographs, named Raven. The fashionably black color scheme of the watches does not raise doubts about where the name came from. Other identifying features of these Breitling timepieces are peculiar bezel and push pieces which are rubber-molded. What the New Breitling Raven watches do not have in common is their movements – the Breitling Airwolf Raven is powered by an electronic movement, and the Breitling Skyracer Raven by a mechanical one.
The Breitling Airwolf Raven incorporates the SuperQuartz movement which is tenfold more accurate than ordinary quartz, according to the watchmaking house. This watch has all functions that a pilot might need – an alarm, chronograph measuring time to 1/100th of a second, countdown mechanism, universal time indicator, and a second time zone. Compatible with night vision goggles, backlighting of the display makes it readable at night.
The Breitling Skyracer Raven chronograph is powered by a movement which allows dual measured time view, Caliber 27.  This self-winding chronograph with 1/4 second precision includes a 60-minute counter in center of the dial to measure time periods less than an hour and a counter with 12 hours and 60 minutes combined to measure longer time periods. The movement of the Breitling Skyracer Raven chronograph has a power reserve of 48 hours and is absolutely safe at a depth up to 200 meters. The wearer of the watch can easily read the elapsed time off the bezel.
The estimated price for both Breitling models is around $3,000 – $4,000, and the price for Breitling watches reaches more than fifteen thousand dollars. While its not a new thing, many people many not be aware that an Invicta brand named Technica Swiss Ebauches purchases chinese made Sea-Gull movements and final finishes them in Switzerland and badges them as Swiss Made. Swiss Made regulations only provide that at least 50% of the value of the movement must be from Switzerland. With the price of the Chinese Ebauches being so low, its not difficult to refinish the movements in Switzerland in order to meet the criteria.

Swiss Mechanical Invictas 

This is an unfortunate situation, and devalues the Swiss Made brand. Invicta has done well by selling a large number of watches, purchasing higher end brands like S. Coifman and devaluing them as well. While I think that Invicta has some good value in their lines, the majority of their designs are either very ugly, or hommages. The Invictas above sell for $119, and claim to have Swiss Made movements inside them.

I guess the point I am trying to make here is that the Swiss Made brand is being devalued and I think its a shame – hopefully its prestige can be maintained rather than be tainted by the likes of Invicta.
